When all seemed lost, one man seemed superior today. And that man was Chris Kesting. New Life Academy’s soccer season has been a pleasant one to follow, and Chris Kesting has been the catalyst for it all.
When the team went down 2-1 in the second half today against Heritage, it seemed as if the team was going to have a hard time coming back. But when forward Cole Sheridan drew a foul in the box, there was no doubt in anyone’s mind who was going take and make the penalty kick. Mr. Chris Kesting.
Kesting’s leadership on the soccer has been seen throughout the year as he has scored in almost every game this year. Chris has had a lot of memorable moments this season, including many game winning goals against teams like Hastings and even today against Heritage.
Chris’s last goal today was an absolutely beautiful one. He got the ball on the top on the box and split two defenders getting a free shot on net and softly kicking over the goalie’s head for the eventual winning goal. The New Life Academy Eagles ended up winning 3-2 in a very impressive conference win that boosts their place in the conference standings.
I’ve seen the soccer team play a lot this year, and it is obvious that the team rallies around their star and leader Chris Kesting for leadership when it counts most and he delivers. Chris is really fun to watch play on the field. The Eagles have a lot of talented forwards and mid-fielders, but lack defense when they are at their worst.
The Eagles play their homecoming game on Saturday, and the conference tournament is next week. With a little help from the supporting cast, maybe Chris Kesting and the NLA Boys Soccer team can win themselves a conference championship.
