New Life Academy came up short at Christ’s Household of Faith in a 52-49 loss Dec. 16.

Sam Horner led the Eagles boys basketball team with 13 points as they fell for the second time this season. Leading scorer Conrad Engstrom mustered nine points, but grabbed nine rebounds to help keep his team in the game.

Luke Berger had a solid game on the glass with eight boards along with his nine points. He also had four of the team’s 13 steals.

The Eagles also had a strong performance rebounding again with 39 boards. But the Eagles struggled offensively, shooting 11-for-32 from the field. That didn’t help though in a tight ballgame.

New Life dropped its third straight game Dec. 20 in a 69-52 loss to Glencoe-Silver Lake. Engstrom had 16 points, but not other Eagles scored in double figures as the Panthers pulled away in the second half.

Glencoe-Silver Lake nearly doubled up the Eagles 41-21 over the final 18 minutes after the Eagles established a 31-28 lead at the break. The Eagles fell to 5-3 overall before the Christmas break. They return to action Jan. 3 when they host Bethany Academy in Minnesota Christian Athletic Association competition.
