Game Recap

In the second match of the season, the Eagles were downed by the Humboldt Hawks 7-2. Humboldt known for a possession style team came out early on the attack scoring off of a nice set piece play for a goal. The Eagles back line, anchored by Dylan Strenger and Luke Rudeen defended admirably against a formidable attack. True to form, the Eagles continued to work hard, staying positive in the face of a 4-0 score line to finally crack the code. A well placed through ball from Kavin Ramesh to Jayce Thompson who finished with style gave the Eagles their first goal of the season.

Down 4-1 at half, the Eagles came out determined to win the second half and play with pace. A stunner of a goal from Jackson George on a set piece play allowed the Eagles to climb within 2 of the Hawks. Unfortunately it was not enough as the Hawks managed to slot 3 more goals to finish the game 7-2.

Man of the match for the Eagles was freshman keeper, Sten Hoien. Hoien had 27 saves on the night against the Hawks and looked very much the part even with 7 goals conceded. Praise from his teammates and the NLA faithful fan section kept the young keeper in good spirits.

The Eagles look to bounce back this week on Thursday against what is sure to be another tough opponent in the Bloomington Kennedy Eagles.

Go NLA Eagles!
